A material girl!

I had some time tonight in between loads of laundry and decided to make a card. I have become very fond of this set from Cornish Heritage Farms.

Tomorrow my mom and I are taking a class taught by Dina Wakley. I was first introduced to Dina's work by blog surfing one day. Then I saw she was published in an issue of Artful Blogging, and have admired her work for the last couple years. She has a very free and eclectic style that I love. I look forward to going to the class tomorrow and hope to learn something new. I picked up a deckle edge watercolor journal from Hobby Lobby a couple weeks ago and decided that it will be my primary journal to document things in when I go on vacation to VA & NY in May and June. Lord only knows what kind of trouble my mom and I will get in to, and I want to document every single thing that happens :) This class will help me get this journal started.

Good morning everyone! Here is this week's Unscripted Sketch and my take. I did a card like this a couple years ago and found left over supplies and the card took on a life of it's own! :)

This weekend I have my best friend in town, so I won't be on the internet much. Please come check out everyone's great work at Unscripted Sketches.

Rolodex swap & Funky Swap

For our Yahoo group, we are doing an alphabet Rolodex swap February and March, and I chose 'b' and 'o' of course, so I did a bird and owl. I tried my free motion foot and am pleased with the result:

And in the same yahoo group we are doing a year of funky holiday's, and February is Crossword Puzzle Month. Here is my take on the theme:

I finished these all up throughout the day.

Unscripted Sketch #13 & HAPPY 4TH!

Howdy everyone!!! It's Saturday, and that means another great sketch is up over at Unscripted Sketches. Here is this week's sketch and my take:

All papers are My Mind's Eye. Kraft cardstock by Stampin' Up. Pink cardstock from my scrap pile. Sentiment by Kim Hughes (Tag! You're It collection). Stardust Stickles outlines the heart in the middle and the ribbon is from my stash.

Those pretty hearts made with my new Cricut that was gifted to me by my dear friend Liz. They are from a cartridge I bought called Simply Sweet. Oh, and they have a new one just released 3days ago called Stampin' Solutions. I am so into birds and owls and I REALLY WANT THIS ONE! If you read this and you really love me....you can buy this for me and I will love you forever. I just had to spend $185 on fixing my fridge so there goes my play money until next month.... :) Anyhow, back to my story. My friend Liz came into town last weekend and we had an absolute BLAST! 5 of us met up and drove to the east side of town and shopped and ate dinner. Saturday we met up at an LSS for a bit. I was supposed to join them for dinner Saturday night, but there was a family thing I had to help take care of. I really wanted to meet Amie and Casey IRL....but I am sure it will happen sometime soon. :) These ladies are so sweet!!!!

I had to go to Michael's Sunday to buy a new blade for my machine, and they had the Simply Sweet and a few other's on sale for $50!!! So I just had to buy it. I LOVE THIS MACHINE!!!!! I am going to spend some time this weekend playing with it a little more. I love you Liz, thank you so much!
So what is everyone doing for the 4th? We are having some people over Saturday night for a BBQ and we will watch the fireworks from our backyard or go to the park. Sunday I have to catch up on homework and work on a take home quiz....and I hope to get some more crafting done.
Have a good weekend, and please stop by Unscripted Sketches to check us out!!!

Unscripted Sketch # 12

Happy Saturday everyone! We have a new sketch up over at Unscripted Sketches. Here is the sketch and my example:

PP is American Crafts. Stamped image is Tyson the Turtle (Kim Hughes) stamped on watercolor paper and then colored in with SU markers and water colored. The brads were found in the $1 spot at Target. The card stock is probably Bazzill. :) I finally used some fun flock that I have had stored away for quite a while (on the top of the hat) and made it all sparkle using Diamond Stickles.

I hope you'll come join us this week! Check us out at Unscripted Sketches and see what all of the other wonderful designers have created!

Unscripted Sketches #7

I really, REALLY liked working with this sketch. I knew immediately that I wanted to do a circular card, and of course use an owl. When I took a Kelly Kilmer class at Frenzy Stamper last weekend, I spotted this owl set from Hero Arts and just had to have it. So I inked it up and created this:
To color the owl I used my blender pen and Real Red SU marker. the paper is Junkitz and KI Memories, the card stock, brad and ribbon are from my stash. The sentiment is from my Kim Hughes U R A Hoot set. I inked the edges with brown chalk ink and used my Fiskars punch for the pink and white scallops on the bottom. After I put this together I thought that a set of the googly eyes would look neat on the owls' eyes, so I may do that later. The original sketch is here:

Come on over to Unscripted Sketches and see what everyone has made! The designers put up some great work!!!
Today I am helping my parents pack up a truck and move some things to their Virgina home. They will be there for most of the summer. It'll suck not being able to go and hang out....but I can still keep in touch over the phone and via email, so it's all good. I have a 3 day weekend, so I'll probably catch up on housework and make some stuff for some swaps I have due. I am placing my first order with Dick Blick.....I ordered a ton of Liquitex acrylic ink and poster paint pens. My mom showed me a cool technique with the acrylic ink and blowing into a straw. I bought I think 8 different colors!
