Unscripted Sketches #52-Celebrating Earth Day Blog Hop!

Happy Saturday! For those of you coming from Alanna's blog, WELCOME! Thanks for hopping with us!

Today is a special day at Unscripted Sketches. We are celebrating earth day with a blog hop and a special sketch challenge. Here is today's sketch and my example:

The bonus challenge to this is to create a card using a recycled product, using the sketch above. My recycled product is the background: it's part of a paper towel I used when I was cleaning up ink and paint in my art journal here, here and here. So I cut it down to size, paired it up with some Heidi Grace papers and rub-ons and a Kim Hughes stamp and made the card above.

In celebration of Earth Day, I want to do a little give away. It will be open all week long. Take the above sketch and create something using a recycled product. Link back here using the link function below. I will draw a winner on Saturday morning 5/1, and the winner will receive some recycled paper towels (like what I used above) and some other treats :)

Now, for the blog hop! Next on the hop is our friend Arielle. Please stop by her blog and keep hoppin'!

Happy Easter Sunday & blog candy winner!

Well, since I only had one comment, Jane is the lucky winner! Jane, I will mail out your goodies when I mail out the circle rolodex :)

This weekend I was able to get a handful of cards made. I just started pulling out paper and stamps and came up with these:

Today we hit up the in-laws for a late lunch. Then my parents came over and we ate dinner, played a game and watched TV. Now we're watching Undercover Boss. I'll probably catch up on Gene Simmons Family Jewels and Kendra :)

Hope everyone had a good Easter!!

Blog Candy Winners!

I went through each and every comment and took those that left a note stating what they were going to be making yesterday (sorry, I need to keep it fair and stick to the rules below!). So everyone that left a comment telling me what they were doing got their name in a bucket, and I just had my co-worker draw 2 random names, and the winners are:

I love your card. The tree is so cute. I am taking care of my hubby today. He is recovering from shoulder surgery. I do hope to make a card today for my mother and father-in-law's 65 wedding anniversary. Do you know there is not a stone or color for the 65th anniversary? That needs to be changed.

Happy Girl (and a small giveaway!)!

Come Wednesday this little baby will be in my hands! My dad helped me research some laptops over the weekend and I snagged this bad boy for less than 400, and when I went to check out I noticed they threw in a free optical wireless mouse. :) Plus, free shipping. Now, all I need is a cute laptop bag. Can anyone recommend a place online or in AZ that sells cute, girly laptop bags, around 50 bucks? I have 3 little handmade journals to give away. Leave a comment here, recommend a site, and I'll pick my top 3 sites and give those posters a prize. :)

Give away time!

My mom has been cleaning out her craft room and unloaded about 2 dozen stamp sets and paper packs onto me. There are several stamp sets that are brand newand never used, several gently used and a few are sets that I already have, so I thought a good way to pass along some of my goodies would be to have a give away! What I will. tell you is that you will want to check out our new sketch site, Unscripted Sketches this Saturday when we unveil our first ever sketch!

That's all I'm going to say about the give away right now! :) Stay tuned.....more details will be posted this Saturday. Trust me, you don't want to miss it!

New Rolodex Set

Today I finished up my next set of Rolodex cards to be swapped out. The theme is numbers, so somewhere on the card must be numbers. I found these stencils and figured I would use those as the focal point. Each stencil was sprayed with either a Tim Holtz color wash or a mix of water and acrylic paint. I found a set of really shimmery multi colored eyeshadow at the dollar store and used some of it to give each stencil shimmer. Then I backed it onto a piece of multi colored canvas. I found some various stickers and embellishments and put them on the card as well. Then I stippled a heart onto it and filled it with glitter. The edges of the card are painted in acrylic paint. I had a few ideas running through my head before settling on this idea. I really like how they turned out!

Next I will start working on our funky card swap. We must alter a different card, so I chose to do business cards and Uno cards. I am doing an extra set to give to my best friend. :) I am really looking forward to getting this book back in a couple months so I can see what everyone else in the group did!

I am off work until Monday so I've been catching up on creating, housework and homework. I haven't made us a dinner in a couple weeks, so tonight we are having shish kebobs, salad and fondue for dessert. Tomorrow will probably be spaghetti and meatballs. :)
