Are you sick of the journal pages yet?

I hope not, because I have a few more to share that I have done over the last couple days.

I am going to start rooting through my ephemera and such and start collaging soon!

More journal pages

I made some more pages, using a ton of techniques I learned from Dina's class yesterday. I went through my supplies and organized my stencils/masks. Now I can see what I have in one place and finally put them all to use. I also went through a few magazines and cut out silhouettes to use as well.

Journaling with black spray paint....with Dina

Today my mom and I took a class at The Creative Quest with Dina Wakley.....Journaling with black spray paint. It was a great class and I learned a ton. I am going to do this type of painting/journaling for my watercolor journal I bought specifically for documenting our travels to VA/NY. Here are some pics I took of my mom and our pages:

Journal Time

So anytime I am with my mom, it typically ends up in us either hitting up the thrift stores and buying usless schmutz, or ending up at my place making schmutz books/journals with stuff laying around in my room. This journal was made using fabric and fringe we picked up at the thrift store Saturday, plus junk from my room. This is what I came up with:

It has 4 signatures in it with about 10-12 pages per signature. Needless to say it's a pretty thick journal! I hope to start writing in it soon!

Schmutz book anyone?

Last night I had my mom and brother over for dinner to celebrate my mom's birthday. After we ate, we played. I finished some charms for a swap and my mom made this for me:

La

A schmutz book! What is a schmutz book? Well, it's a book that's made of findings and found object from your stash basically. Throw in some pictures and fabric and you've got a book that tells a story. The book above has pictures in it from our trip to NY last October.

My mom has made a few of these and is submitting this one to have published in Somerset Studio. The pictures just don't do it justice, it of course looks so much better in real life!

I made some altered scrabble tile charms and learned out to make wool roving charms so I finished those today. These will be swapped out in our Yahoo group. I had fun making them, but the wool roving beads are a pain in the ass to make!!

Well, I hope everyone has a good week!

Funky Fabric Journal Class

Here is the journal that we made at our class at Frenzy Stamper:

This by far is one of the best classes I have taken, next to anything that Kelly Kilmer teaches. This was well worth the money!!! Thank you Debbie and Jane!!!! The one thing that would have made it even better is if my mom were there....but she couldn't be so she's just going to have to drool over my book when she gets back in town!!!

It's Saturday, and you know what that means, right? Another sketch has been posted at Unscripted Sketches!!! Here is the sketch:

Here is my creation:
This is actually a journal of sorts. It has random pieces of paper in it: card stock, pattern paper, handmade paper, canvas...etc. I unfortunately didn't take a picture of the inside, because I wanted to focus more on the exterior. I painted a piece of canvas paper using various paints, stencils and sprays and cut it in half, then folded. I bought some Perfect Pearls and new Inkadinkado stamps from Michael's and used them as the focal point. They really do shimmer, the picture just doesn't show it. The letters on the bottom? I bought an alphabet and number stencil set at Michael's and used a black Blow Pen to create it!

I hope you enjoy today's sketch, and don't forget to head on over to Unscripted Sketches to see what all of the other wonderful designers have created!
