Crazy week

WOW, it's been one stressful week. I haven't really been able to talk about it since I found out in November, but now I can. We received notice at work that they were doing a company wide layoff, across several systems throughout the US. It was made public on several news websites, but I just didn't feel comfortable talking about it until it was all over and done with. The first in the company's history. My group survived, but some of my friends in other departments weren't so lucky. They were, however, offered decent severance packages, so that is a plus in all this I guess. I am not sure if there will be more layoff's down the road, but for now I am OK. :) It's just really hard not knowing if you'll be employed from one day to the next.

So knowing how bad the economy is right now, we are having a very "light" Christmas this year. Yes, we know that it's not all about gifts and such. We truly believe that it is better to give than to receive, so we are making cash donations to the Arizona Humane Society in each other's name, as well as doing Christmas Angels for those in need. Darrin and I have all that we could ever wish for, and want to help out those (especially those 4 legged creatures) that are in need. So those are our plans this year.

Other than that, not much else going on. Tomorrow my mom and I are going down to Frenzy Stamper to put together our pages that we will receive back from our chunky book swap that my mom's friend Jane hosted. Man, those things are fun to do! I signed up for a couple more chunky book swaps through a couple yahoo groups I belong to, so I'm anxious to get started on those soon too! As soon as I get my book back tomorrow, I'll take pictures.

Good night!

Layoffs are hard to deal with anytime, but even more so in the month of December. My husband got the word 5 years ago 2 weeks before Christmas. It was difficult, but we made it through.
It turned out to be a blessing in disguise. God always works things to the good.
