Not so happy Thursday :(

So for the past couple weeks, I have noticed that the tops of my hands have been super itchy. The webbing in between my fingers is so dry it's almost disgusting. I have discolored skin on my left hand and it looks like I don't know how to clean myself. :) So I decided to make an appointment with a dermatologist by my house. I must say, this office is SO NICE! Their staff, their waiting room, the PA....everyone. Oh, and I noticed that they have pictures of the staff dressed up every year for Halloween, and in 2007 their office dressed up as Wizard of Oz characters...WAY COOL!

Anyhow, he thought my hand either came in contact with someone else's gross-ness (either by skin to skin contact or doing something like touching a faucet after someone didn't wash their own hands) or my skin is just getting uber-sensitive. I am leaning towards it just being uber-sensitive because why after all these years would I just now be getting this weird condition after coming in contact with gross-ness or dirty people? So he prescribed me this ultra expensive lotion (which I am not looking forward to getting filled) and told me to ditch using anything with dyes/perfumes. So I have to say goodbye to my favorite Bath and Body Works, Avon, Victoria Secret and Body Shop lotions and shower gels. See ya later Tide with Downy. Ta-Ta Febreeze and scented dryer sheets. For anyone who truly knows me, I LOVE smelly lotions, perfumes and body washes. I was heart broken when he told me this! I have 2 huge bags of stuff waiting to go to Jane and my good friend in hopes that they can get some good use out of what's left. He recommended Cetaphil, which isn't cheap! So I bought a tub of cream and some all over cleanser, so we'll see how it works.

This week sucks so far. A bunk foot and I can't use smelly stuff. And I have to work 12 to 9. Yes, I'll take some cheese with my whine. :)

That sucks! I can't give up my vanilla lotion! My hubby would be so unhappy. Hopefully you are on the mend.

I use Cetaphil and can testify that it's really great stuff... but not very cheap. You have to use the cream, not the lotion. I've heard that the best deals are at Costco/Sam's Club -- or you can be on the lookout for the Walgreens ad.. sometimes, they have the big tubs for only $7 or so. :/ I feel your pain! The change of the seasons back and forth don't help! I was sad when I had to give up the perfumed lotions too! OOOOH! Ivory dish soap works MIRACLES! Use it for all washings along with your prescription and you'll be surprised at the miraculous recovery!

hey April - love the cupcakes by the way. :) on the hands..... from a girl that knows about dry winters, You DEFINITELY sound like you are getting more sensitive skin. As you get older, your skin tends to hold less moisture which means it might get itchy, crusty and dry. I had the SAME THING happen to me last year. And I don't use ANY smelly lotions. They really aren't that good! They don't moisturize very well and in fact can dry your skin out even more because of the perfumes....I noticced when I use the Victoria Secret hand lotion, that my hands were STILL dry and cracky like 2 minutes later. you'll get your money's worth out of the good stuff though...it REALLY works and really holds in the moisture.... as opposed to re-applying every 10 minutes with the perfume-y stuff. Hope it feels better soon!! And I feel youor pain.... every winter... :(
